American's Death in Mexico Caused by Medical Condition

The Attorney General's Office of Justice of the State of Sonora (FGJES) confirmed that the death of Patrick Joseph Weber, a 71-year-old U.S. citizen found dead in San Carlos, was due to a pre-existing medical condition and not a criminal act.

According to the forensic experts' report, the cause of Weber's death was the rupture of a main artery in his neck. Authorities stated that this injury was a consequence of the septuagenarian's pre-existing medical condition. Regarding a visible blow to his forehead, the Prosecutor's Office clarified that it is a bruise caused by a fall from his own height, ruling out the intervention of third parties.

Weber was last seen on February 22. After his disappearance was reported, authorities initiated search operations that culminated in the discovery of the body in the San Carlos docks area. The corpse was located submerged under a sailboat adjacent to his own property.

The FGJES reported that it maintains permanent communication with the U.S. Consulate General in Hermosillo to facilitate the necessary legal procedures and consular assistance for the deceased's family.
